Valerian’ director and writer Luc Besson announces Rihanna’s comeback on Big Screen

It was revealed in May that the model-turned-actress Cara Delevingne had snagged a starring role in the sci-fi epic ‘Valerian’, which is based on the French graphic novel series ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’. That was not enough to excite people about the movie. Now, Cara’s partner in crime Rihanna will also come along for the ride.

On Wednesday, Luc Besson, ‘Valerian’ director and writer who has also directed ‘The Fifth Element’ and ‘Lucy’, announced the news on Twitter, saying that he’s ‘Sooo excited’ for the big role of Rih.

The big screen is nothing new for Rihanna as she has also starred in 2012’s ‘Battleship’ and given her voice to 2015’s animated flick ‘Home’. The singer has also made cameo appearances in ‘Annie’ and ‘This Is The End’.

In ‘Valerian’, Dane DeHaan will be starring as the titular character and Delevingne as his companion, Laureline. The pair together will be time-traveling agents, who will save the planet Earth from extraterrestrial invaders in the 28th century. Besson’s already given everybody a look at the Laureline’s style inspiration. She is looking like a fiery badass.

The film’s production is planned to start at the end of 2015. Till then, Rihanna has a lot of work to keep her busy, like the (hopefully soon) release of Anti, which is her eighth album, and an appearance during the approaching Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
