Albany teen to get new wheelchair after someone stole hers

An Albany teen with Cerebral Palsy will get a new wheelchair from Latham-based Monroe Wheelchair, after someone stole hers last week.

Fourteen-year-old Rockelle "Rocky" Valentino's wheelchair was stolen by someone from in front of her Winthrop Avenue home.

On the day the wheelchair was stolen, her sister said, "She said she's very sad and she wants to go to school."

Second-graders at an Albany school on Tuesday met and conversed with more than dozen Ugandan orphan boys through Skype.

Despite being separated by thousands of miles, Susan Fowler's second-graders at Delaware Community School erupted with cheers as soon as they saw a class of 17 orphan boys from Kampala, Uganda, on the projector screen.

Pedestrian struck & killed by Albany driver identified by police

The pedestrian who was hit and killed by a pickup truck in Corvallis last Sunday evening has been identified by police as 50-year-old John Edward McCrummen of Oklahoma.

McCrummen was struck and killed by the pickup truck just before 6 p. m., nearly a quarter of a mile south of Circle Boulevard, a spokesperson for the Corvallis Police Department said during press conference.

Industry Week editor-in-chief and MPI Group CEO John Brandt will be the guest speaker at the Albany Chamber of Commerce's upcoming annual meeting, the chamber has announced.

The chamber's this year's annual dinner and meeting program is scheduled to take place on January 29 at the Hilton Garden Inn Conference Center in downtown Albany.
