Albany County Executive Dan McCoy on Wednesday signed a measure into local law that bans children products that contain toxic chemicals. The first of its kind ban in the state aims at protecting children from toxic toys, apparel and other products. The new local 'Law J' prohibits the sale of children's products containing arsenic, antimony, cadmium, cobalt, benzene, mercury and lead.
Albany County officials have announced the opening of an emergency shelter in the capital region to provide shelter to the needy amid falling temperatures.
Officials said that the Albany County Sheriff's Office Public Safety Building in Clarksville would be utilized as an emergency shelter. The building is located at 58 Verda Avenue.
