NYCC is quickly becoming the Second Biggest Convention within North America

Every year since 2006, on the second weekend of October, the Jacob Javits Center at 655 West 4th Street in Manhattan becomes the site of the biggest comic book and ‘geek media’ convention on the east coast. The year 2015 was no exception as ReedPOP proudly came up with the tenth edition of its ‘New York Comic Con’ (NYCC) fiesta last week.

Giraffe Ancestors Used to have Elongated Necks about 16 Million Years Ago

On studying the cervical neck vertebrae from 71 animals including modern giraffes, their relatives and their ancient ancestors, researchers found two species of giraffe having elongated necks. Prodremotherium elongatum and Canthumeryx sirtensis, the two ancestors of giraffe that lived 25 million and 16 million years ago, both used to have long necks.

Researchers through a recently conducted study have found that flooding risk along the New York and New Jersey coasts has increased greatly after industrialization. They warned that major storms that once might have occurred every 500 years could soon start happening after every 25 years.
